BREWSTER – The 16th annual Brewster King Salmon Derby, the largest on the Upper Columbia River, is set to launch bright and early Friday morning, August 5.

Brewster Chamber of Commerce President Mike Mauk reports that with just a few days remaining until the August 3 ticket cutoff, 100 of the 300 limited tickets were still available for purchase.

“We have a food vendor lined up for the whole weekend and lots of great prizes donated,” Mauk said.

Among the prize donors is Bob Feil Boats & Motors in East Wenatchee that kicked in a 9.9 HP outboard, and Peace Armory in Pateros that provided a very nice archery setup. Several fishing trips and a hunting trip will also be awarded.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 10 in the Adult Division, the top 10 in the Youth Division, and top 5 in the Child Division. Top cash prizes include:

$2,000   King of the Pool (All Ages)
$1,500   Adult Winner
$550      Youth (9-14 years)
$100      Youth (8 & under)

The mandatory skippers meeting is at 6 p.m., Thursday, August 4, at derby headquarters, the gazebo in the park by the boat launch. Skippers can collect their packets including boat marker and wristbands. Side pot details and T-shirts will also be available at the meeting.
