Cyril Mack (Cy) Jones, age 85, of Brewster, Wash. died on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, in Brewster.

Cy was born April 11, 1933, in Ontario, Wisconsin, to Cyril Marion Jones and Helen Marie McCracken. He was the oldest of seven children. The family moved to Culp Creek, Lane County, Oregon, 1940. Cy graduated in 1951 from Pleasant Hill High School with 20 other students and went directly into the Navy for four years. In 1962 he earned a BA degree in Agriculture at WSU, Pullman, Wash., then a BA degree in Electrical Engineering in 1967 also from WSU. He added a Professional Engineering License in 1978 while in Libby Montana. Cy worked at the Libby Dam and Albany Falls Dam as Operations Manager and Project Engineer.  Later he was Project Engineer at Chief Joseph Dam at Bridgeport, Wash., until he retired on Dec. 31, 1995 from the Corps of Engineers, Seattle District.

Cy married Blenda Lee Hooper in Pasco, Wash, on Feb. 2, 1963. To this union was born two children: Helen Irene Jones and Dustin Lee Jones.

After Cy retired he had many adventures. He took a six week solo kayaking trip across the Artic Ocean, deployed with the Corps of Engineers to Iraq during the reconstruction and to Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina to help inspect portable school rooms.

In 2004, Cy made his first voyage down the Colorado River on a rafting trip with Doug Smith and friends. Five more winter rafting trips followed along with dozens of hiking trips in Utah, Arizona, and Colorado. Notable trips he took with his family included China, Spain, Italy and Greece as well as national parks in the west.

Retired activities included being a HOST school tutor, skiing, plunking the ukulele, Book Club, and donating blood to the Red Cross Blood Drive.

Survivors include his wife, Blenda of Brewster, Wash., daughter Helen (Chris) Zimmerman of Anacortes, Wash., son Dusty Jones (Jessica) of Huffman, Texas. Brothers Don Jones, Eltopia, Wash., Bill Jones (Cheryl) Eltopia, Wash., Jack Jones (Wilma) Eltopia, Wash., sisters Joyce Watts, Eugene, Oregon, Trish Mann, Dayton, Nevada and Ann Sanders (Royal)  Junction City, Oregon, four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Friday October 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Barnes Chapel, 510 W. Indian Ave, Brewster, WA 98812.
