Lucas Benjamin Groeneveld, born Sept. 29, 1929, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2018 after coping many years with a long progressive condition. He was born in Bridgeport, and lived his life there with the exception of his 3 Army years where he was stationed out of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and spent time in Korea.
He met his wife Verla, while in Oklahoma, married her the day he was released from the Army, and they lived in Bridgeport until their health took them to Spokane just over 2 years ago.
Luke is survived by 3 sons: Glenn, Verne (Jake), and Bruce, and their wives; his brother Jack, and niece Mary, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Verla, and sons Wayne and Roy.
A memorial service will be held at the Bridgeport High School July 12 at 2:30 p.m.
