Mary Sue Loucks

On February 5, 2020 Mary Sue Loucks passed away peacefully in Omak, WA. She was born April 29, 1936 in Danville, VA. She met and married Jack W. Loucks in Norfolk, VA. In 1952. She and her eldest son, Phil traveled across country to Carlton, WA. to await her husband’s return from the Navy. While living there she carried for her in-laws as well as learning the country life. They lived in Twisp, WA. But eventually settled in Carlton to raise their growing family.
She went on to work in the apple sheds in Pateros after her husband’s death. In later life, she was able to secure her retirement spot in Pateros off Starr Road. She and her partner, Irvin Wolley developed a rock and sage brush plot into a desired riverfront multifamily development. It was featured in Sunset Magazine. They lived there until the Carlton Complex fires, which lead to her move to Omak, WA. Mary is well known for her dry sense of humor, and quick wit. She loved to play cribbage, and extensive knowledge of flora and fauna was evident to all who experience her gardens. She also loved the outdoors, which include camping and fishing.
Mary is preceded in death by husband, Jack, and son, Mike.
She is survived by oldest son Phillip Loucks of Petersburg, AK. Jack Loucks of Malott, WA, and Vicki Loucks-Williams of Republic, WA. She is blessed with 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
An interment ceremony will be held at Beaver Creek Cemetery at a time to be determined later.
