PATEROS - The undefeated Entiat Tigers varsity basketball teams, that have filled the capacity of Central Washington 1B league nemesis for the Pateros Billygoats and Nannies this season, played out their roles last Tuesday, Feb. 2 by overcoming the Pateros teams for the second time.

The Entiat boys beat the Billygoats, 43-37, and the Lady Tigers won their game over the Nannies, 67-46, in the final regular season game played on Senior Night at Pateros.

The Billygoats started well, out-scored Entiat by two points, 9-7, in the first quarter and extended their lead to six, 19-13 by halftime.

"In the first half we had 12 turnovers which were lost opportunities for us to score," said coach Marcus Stennes.

As the teams entered the locker room it looked as though Pateros, despite the turnovers, was in a good position to even the score with the Tigers who had defeated them 56-29 on Jan. 10. However, the second-half advantage shifted Entiat's way.

"We allowed them to get eight offensive boards and 20 points," Stennes said. "this was a huge momentum changer for us."

The Tigers outscored Pateros by 13 points and took a seven-point lead into the fourth and deciding quarter.

"We just could not get back into it after the third quarter," Stennes said. "We struggled shooting the ball from three going 5-24 and 9-21 from two,"

The Billygoats faced Yakima Tribal on Friday, Feb. 3 and were scheduled to travel to Moses Lake Christian Academy on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Pateros is ranked second in the CW1B and will be heading for District competition at Eastmont High School on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
