Pateros Nannies volleyball ranked 7th in state

PATEROS-The Pateros Nannies remain undefeated in league after an Oct. 6 sweep of Moses Lake Christian and now stand ranked in seventh place among the state's 1B volleyball squads.

The Nannies, 6­0 in league and 6­5­1 overall, saw their conditioning pay off against a tough MLCA squad, Nannies' head coach Gene Dowers wrote in an email.

"The match turned on one really long rally late in the [first] set that left the Lions red­faced and panting," Dowers wrote. "They never really recovered."

In the second set, the Nannies beat the Lions' serve all but once.

"We got a lot more efficient at the net, too and rolled right through to 25 [points]," Dowers wrote.

Ashton Steggal had 10 kills, went 7­of ­7 serving with one ace, had three assists, eight passes and two digs.

Brandy Woodward had six kills, 7­of­ 8 passing with one ace, nine assists, 11 digs and five passes.

Madison White had three kills, 17­of­19 serves with five aces, one assist, 10passes and six digs.Bobbi Hall had five kills, went 20­ of ­22 serving with five aces, one solo block, 10 assists, 16 digs and six passes.

"In the third set," Dowers wrote, "we started well and took control when Bobbi stepped up to serve 14 in a row."

Maddi Arzalus had three kills, four digs, one pass and went 2 ­of­ 3 serving.

Emily Larsen went 2­of­2 serving, with 11 digs, seven passes and two assists.

Aubrey Miller went 10­of­12 serving with four aces, one kill, one pass and two digs.

Samantha White had two passes and a dig. Ashlyn Gonzalez had one pass and three digs.Next up for Pateros are two road games at Thorp­Easton Oct. 15 and at Omak Oct. 17.

Then on Oct. 24, the team hosts the Pateros Tournament starting at 9 a.m. On Oct. 27, the team hosts Entiat, at 5 p.m.
