Pateros students exuberantly display Holiday Spirit

Posted

Hundreds of parents and friends gathered in the Pateros school gym Thursday, Dec. 11 to witness one of the cutest events of the year - the annual Holiday Spirit concert. The youngsters who played in the band and sang the songs showed unabashed enthusiasm. There must have been at least 50 kids in the highly animated K - Fifth Grade chorus under the direction of Jonathan McBride who led them through songs like Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. Homemade cookies, at least a dozen varieties, donated from the Pateros community, were sold by the pound. The money from the sale went to enhance the musical programs at the school. Principle Michael Hull gave a special thanks to all the staff at Pateros Elementary and especially to Debbie Gelstin, Danielle Flowers, Kerry Harvey, Autumn Evans, Marg Ellis, Crystal Ewing, Brandon Butler, Roberta Scroggie and Emily Fuller for "being flexible with schedules, helping students to learn music and being here this evening to ensure a smooth performance." Hull said, "you are the reason these kids shine!" (Photo by Gary Bégin)
