PATEROS - The Pateros High School boys and girls varsity basketball teams won their first-round games in District competition but were eliminated by Entiat in the loser-out District finals.

The Nannies defeated Wilson Creek, 61-28 on Feb. 14 but fell to Entiat at home, 54-35, last Saturday, Feb. 17.

"The team battled hard all game," said coach John Ellis, adding "I'm very proud of all these girls."

It was the final home game for Nannie seniors Bobbi Hall, Aubrey Miller, Emily Larsen and Anna Schluneger.

"I would like to thank my four seniors for their hard work and dedication," said Ellis. "It's been a pleasure coaching them."

Hall was voted game Most Valuable Player and Miller was named to the All-League First Team.

The Nannies finished the season with 17 wins and four losses.

The Billygoats downed Riverside Christian, 61-39, last Thursday, Feb. 16, and lost to the Tigers the following night, 53-44.

Crusader fall

"This was the first round of districts to play for the championship," said coach Marcus Stennes.

Pateros held RC to single-digit scoring in the first quarter while the Billygoats knocked down 21. The fast start "was great momentum for the rest of the game," Stennes said.

Freshman, Ethan Freels led Pateros with 21 points to go along with nine rebounds.

Junior, Logan Robinson led the Billygoats in rebounds with 12 and scored 10 points.

Sophomore, Andrew Gonzales also hit in double figures with 14 points

Tigers win

Entiat's tough pressure defense made it hard for Pateros to get good shot selections, said Stennes.

"We didn't shoot the ball as well as we would have liked."

The Tigers "hit some big shots throughout the game and had some big offensive rebound put- backs to be able to hold their lead throughout the game," Stennes said.

It was the final home game for seniors Jorge Flores, Armando Rojas, Dakota Poole, Preston Garcia, and Connor Hernandez.

"Thanks to our seniors for all their hard work over the last four years," said Stennes. "They will be missed."

Entiat proved that they were the better team tonight. They hit some big shots throughout the game and had some big offensive rebound put backs to be able to hold their lead throughout the game. We didn't shoot the ball as well as we would have liked and it was tough to find good shots with their pressure defense. Thanks to our seniors for all their hard work over the last four years and they will be missed.
