Always a hit

American Legion crab feed is another sellout

Posted

BREWSTER – Even though it was held some weeks later than its normal January date, the annual crab feed put on by the Columbia 97 Post of the Brewster American Legion last Saturday, March 2, was another sellout as the limited number of tickets went fast to many already familiar with the palate-pleasing event.

Area Three Commander Denny Pittman said the Legion sold some 86 tickets this year. Once again students from the Pateros cheer program pitched in to bus tables, deliver plates of crab, and clean up after the event. A special addition to this year’s event was the presentation of an appreciation award to Pateros senior Amanda Baird who has worked the annual event for the past six years.

In attendance on behalf of the Legion were National Vice Commander Jim Pisa from Anchorage, a Navy and Coast Guard veteran, Army veteran Chris Brock, Ninth District Commander from Tonasket, and Ken Lee, National Executive Commander and Army vet.

Next up for the Legion will be their clam and oyster feed in April. Later in the fall the Legion also hosts its annual Pig Feed in August. Other dining events may be added as the Legion officers plan for the months ahead.
