Amateur Radio Club will gather for May Ham-fest campout

Posted

PATEROS – The Okanogan County Amateur Radio Club W7ORC will host its 20th annual 2018 River Radio Campout along the Methow River at Pateros on Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19.

Ham radio enthusiasts will gather in the gravel parking lot along State Route 153 on the Methow River, one-half mile upriver from its confluence with the Columbia River and U.S. 97. The camping spot is a dry campsite without water or electricity, but includes a DOT restroom. A fruit stand located across the highway may have coffee and other items.

Campers are advised to bring lawn chairs, eating utensils, drinks, and maybe a canopy for protection against the elements.

“Ladies bring your sewing; this is a growing segment,” said event organizer Mike Mauk.

Participants can bring along Ham equipment or whatever electronic gear they wish to sell, trade, or just display.

“If you have old QST mags or books or anything useful to new and old Hams, please bring that as well,” said Mauk. “Please bring a dish if you want to enjoy the potluck with everyone.”

The potluck starts at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 18.

Contact for the annual campout is Mike Mauk at Mike W7MCM,  email skippermike53@gmail.com or phone (509) 449-0605.
“We will be monitoring 146.520,” Mauk said.
