BREWSTER – For the fourth consecutive time, Brewster High School has been recognized as a School of Distinction (SOD) and Brewster Middle School has been so honored for the second consecutive year.

The SOD recognizes the top five percent of schools as the highest improving schools in Washington state and celebrates school staff, students and leaders who improve performance for all students over a sustained period in reading/English language arts and mathematics at the middle school level and graduation rates at the high school.

The SOD is sponsored by the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) in partnership with the Superintendents of the Educational Service Districts (AESD), the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA), the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA), the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP), the Washington State Association for Supervision of Curriculum Development (WSASCD).

“We are proud of all of our staff,” said Brewster superintendent Eric Driessen. “Administrators, office staff, counselors, all special program staff, teachers, para-educators, custodians, maintenance, food service, transportation and itinerant staff. Everyone plays a role in creating an atmosphere of learning, support and caring for our kids.”

Other winners in the North Central Educational Services District 171 included Eastmont Sterling K-7 Elementary, Lake Roosevelt Middle School, and Chelan Middle School.
