Many sponsors sign on

2nd annual Cherries Jubilee will be bigger

BREWSTER – If sponsor participation is any measure of popularity then the second annual Cherries Jubilee celebration is riding a growing wave of recognition. The event has at least 22 money sponsors from Mountain View Espresso, the $500 main event sponsor through $25 contributors.

Vendors will be setting up Friday, June 14, with music provided by Karaoke and open mic performers on stage in the Armory lot from 3-8 p.m. The main event gets underway Saturday, June 15, with the 8 a.m. 3K Fun Run starting from The Armory. Three-on-three basketball will commence at 8 a.m. in the Umpqua Bank parking lot.

The parade line up begins at 9:30 a.m. at the American Legion with the procession starting at 10 a.m. and ending at The Armory.

The car show begins at 10:30 a.m. on Main Street and music kicks in at 11 a.m. on stage in the Armory lot and continues all day.  Performances will include the Washington State Nashville Stars from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m., singer/songwriter Brittany Jean from 4-6 p.m. and more local music from 6-8 p.m.

The Senior Center will feature a cherry dessert contest at 1:30 p.m. with judges Alex Hymer from Sweet River Bakery, Dennis Ferree, chef at Howards on the River and city council member Avis Erickson. Desserts must feature cherries as the main ingredient and include the recipe. Entries can be dropped off at the Senior Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Kids games, a cherry pit spitting contest and fresh pie sale, food vendors and booths will be part of the all-day activities in The Armory lot.

The Brewster Food Bank has donated a hand-painted crosscut saw that will be raffled off. Tickets will be available at the Chamber booth during the Jubilee. Proceeds will go to the Food Bank.
