Posted

PATEROS – The Pateros schools always put on a moving and entertaining performance to honor Veterans Day, and last Friday, Nov. 9 was no exception. While the Honor Guard from Columbia Post 97 of the Brewster American Legion was delayed beyond the 8:30 a.m. start time for the posting of the colors,

ASB President Slade Ginter led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Pateros High School Band played a selection of patriotic music in between presentations and processions.

The American Literature class delivered a recital and the fifth-grade class performed a flag-folding and presentation to the audience.

Rodger Johnson, Post Commander of American Legion Columbia Post 97 in Brewster delivered some brief remarks to the audience, stepping in for Lt. Colonel (ret.) Chuck Borg, who was unable to attend the event.

Veterans in attendance were recognized and letters of appreciation written by students presented to the Honor Guard.

An ASB candle light procession, followed by a moment of silence and TAPS played by band director Johnathan McBride concluded the ceremony.
