Pateros plans five days of activities for Earth/Arbor Day

PATEROS – As one of the state’s designated 90 Tree Cities, Pateros takes Arbor Day with purpose and celebration.
Community Roots, the city’s Earth/Arbor Day celebration will anchor five days of Earth and Arbor Day activities from April 22-26.

Monday, April 22 (12:45-2:45 p.m.): Community members are invited to gather in front of Pateros High School, divide into teams and participate in a city-wide Community Clean-Up.

Tuesday, April 23 (12:45-2:45 p.m.): Community members are invited to gather at City Hall to plant flowers and spruce up the downtown.

Wednesday, April 24 (12:45-2:45 p.m.): Community members are invited to participate in Alta Lake State Park Community Projects. To reserve a spot call (509) 670-7110.

Thursday, April 25 (12:45-2:45 p.m.): Community members are invited to the Arbor Day Planting at the Tennis Courts to plant shrubs and trees at the new Kayak Beach.

Friday, April 26 (3:30-5 p.m.): The public is invited to Memorial Park for the Earth and Arbor Day celebration including craft and science activities, plant and craft vendors, FFA BBQ fundraiser and more.

Pateros Mayor Carlene Anders will read the Arbor Day Proclamation.

Guest Speaker honors will involve the Pateros High School Seniors Project.

Contributors and sponsors include the Boys and Girls Club, Brewster Horticulture class, Okanogan County Conservation District, Pateros FFA, and Valley Venturers 4H Club.
