NCW – Dozens of historic deadly wildfires continue to consume millions of acres in the west, especially in California and Oregon where tens of thousands of people have been forced to evacuate.

Here in Washington our focus is on providing shelter and care to those impacted by evacuations, while beginning the recovery process in areas where it is safe to do so.

We are now sharing service delivery updates on our regional Facebook and Twitter pages. Numbers should be updated by 8:00 a.m. daily.
Here is an example of what the updates will share:

COVID-19 has not changed the Red Cross mission, we are providing the same type of support we always have. To help keep people safe, we are following guidance from CDC and public health authorities — and have put in place additional precautions, including guidelines around in-kind-donations.

For the safety of our shelter residents and workers, the Red Cross is unable to accept material donations of any kind right now. Due to increased safety measures for COVID-19, storing, sorting, cleaning and distributing donated items could be especially risky.

Help people affected by the western wildfires by visiting redcross.org, calling 800-RED CROSS or texting the words WILDFIRES to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
