EAST WENATCHEE - Douglas County PUD Commissioners Aaron J. Viebrock, Molly Simpson and Ronald E. Skagen executed the following actions during the October 24, Commission meeting held at the District’s East Wenatchee office:

• Continued the budget hearing for the Distribution System and Wells Hydroelectric Project for calendar year 2023. The hearing will remain open until Monday, December 12, 2022.

• Opened bids under bid document 22-54-W, fire protection system upgrades and miscellaneous piping at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. All bids will be evaluated prior to a recommendation for contract award.

• Authorized change order No. 4 to contract 21-0-D, Construct Lincoln Rock Switchyard. The change includes additional labor, materials and time to properly construct the switchyard. The change increases the not to exceed cost $15,011, and extends the contract to December 16.

• Awarded contract 22-58-W, milling machine for the Wells Hydroelectric Project to North Western Machinery the lowest responsive bidder.

• Approved a call for bids under bid document 22-61-D, supply and deliver compact 1100kcmil EPR Primary Underground Cable. The District has a need to order additional inventory for upcoming projects and resupply stock.

• Authorized renewal of property insurance with ACE American Insurance Company and AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc.

• Accepted bids received for surplus District property sold by Chuck Yarbro Auction. The auction provided a net return of $10,084 to Douglas PUD.

• Approved amendment No. 3 to interagency agreement with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for increased Chinook production at the Wells Hatchery. This will extend the term of the contract to September 30, 2023 and increase the cost to WDFW by $175,000.

• Affirmed change order No. 8 to contract 21-33-D, hydrogen and Lincoln Rock Switchyard utility installations. The change includes necessary work to install the water supply systems for the hydrogen project. The change increases the not to exceed cost $817,400, and extends the contract to July 31, 2023.

• Authorized a call for bids under bid document 22-42-W, motor control center replacement at the Wells Hydroelectric Project.

• Approved a request for qualifications 22-63-W, quality control inspection support for the generator rebuild and unit refurbishment at the Wells Hydroelectric Project. Looking for an engineering firm with specific experience in the disassembly/reassembly of hydro generators, turbines and auxiliary systems; Hydropower OEM component design and/or hydropower owner engineering.

The next regular meeting of the Commission is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. November 14, at the District’s East Wenatchee Office.
