Applications being accepted for Mike Watkins Memorial Scholarship

CHELAN – Applications are now being accepted for the Mike Watkins Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is open to any graduating senior from the Pateros, Brewster, Bridgeport, Chelan and Manson school districts or a former student of any of these school districts who has successly completed their GED, or the son or daughter of a current Wells Dam Employee. The scholarship will provide financial assistance to an individual attending a trade/technical/vocational program.
The Mike Watkins Memorial Scholarship was created by employees of the Wells Hydroelectric Project, in honor a fellow mechanic Mike "Fluffy" Watkins, to offer financial support to high school seniors seeking skilled jobs training after graduation.
Requirements are: complete at application, a personal letter from the applicant stating why they wish to further their training, including yo ur aspiration in selected field, and need for the scholarship, three letters of recommendations (other than relatives) two from teachers, third from community member such as employer, pastor, personal friend of family etc. Also needed are Official Transcript, signed and dated from the applicants high school; Program Acceptance Letter or confirmation notification that is has been submitted; and summary of academic  awards, leadership, school/community activities, volunteer work/community service and work experience.
