Emily Saucedo excels as multi-sport athlete

BRIDGEPORT – A familiar face on the Bridgeport Fillies’ varsity basketball team this season is senior Emily Saucedo.
Saucedo, who is coming off her role as captain of the volleyball team, will turn out for track and field in the spring. In fact, Saucedo hopes to be completing in collegiate-level track and field on scholarship in 2018.
Saucedo is an academic leader and has been a member of the National Honor Society since her junior year. She is currently enrolled in College in the High School and said that among her favorite subjects are College Humanities, College English and weight training. Saucedo said the latter class give her “an advantage in all the sports I participate in, especially track and field.”
Saucedo has been involved in college-level study since her freshman year.
“My freshman year I took one Advanced Placement class,” said Saucedo. “As a sophomore I took two AP classes, as a junior I took two college classes and this year I am taking five college classes.”
Saucedo is also an active member of Future Farmers of America (FFA).
“I have participated at the District and State levels in Parliamentary Procedure for two years,” said Saucedo. “Currently I’m our Bridgeport Chapter Treasurer.”
Saucedo is also a member of the Multicultural Club where “I do a lot of volunteer work that consists of translating for my peer’s parents.”
Among her future plans, Saucedo “will definitely attend college after graduating high school.”
