Voters approve Brewster, Bridgeport, Mansfield school levies

BREWSTER/BRIDGEPORT/MANSFIELD – Certified results from the special school levy elections released by the Okanogan County and Douglas County auditors’ offices as of press time Friday, Feb. 21, show that voters approved the Bridgeport, Brewster, and Mansfield school district levies by comfortable margins.
Brewster’s four-year replacement levy for educational programs and operations passed 58.66 to 41.34 percent with 699 total votes counted from both counties. Okanogan County’s 602 voters counted approved the Brewster levy with 375 yes votes or 62.29 percent to 227 no votes or 37.71 percent. In contrast eligible voters tallied in Douglas County went the opposite direction, with 62 no votes or 63.92 percent and 35 yes votes or 36.08 percent.
Bridgeport’s four-year maintenance and operations levy won approval by Douglas County voters by a margin of 31 votes, with 162 or 55.29 percent in favor and 131 votes or 44.71 percent opposed. The 10 votes from Okanogan County split six in favor (60%) and four opposed (40%)
The Mansfield school district’s replacement maintenance and operations levy passed by a wide margin with 136 votes (76.40%) yes and 42 (23.60%) no.
According to the latest tallies, school district levies in Tonasket, Oroville, Omak, and the Methow Valley also won approval.
