OKANOGAN COUNTY — Team Okanogan Animal Rescue and Greater Good Charities will host BIG FIX 5.0, a four-day free veterinary clinic, May 13–16 at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds.
The clinic will offer spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations, microchipping and parasite prevention. Organizers say the event is expected to support more than 300 households, with attending families also receiving pet food and essential supplies.
Since launching in 2024, TOAR’s Big Fix program has served more than 4,300 animals, helping prevent unplanned litters and improve access to veterinary care in a county without a public animal shelter and with limited low-cost veterinary options.
At the most recent clinic, 1,131 animals were treated, marking a record for the program.
"What started as an ambitious idea has become one of the most consistent success stories in the region," said Jill Servais, president of Team Okanogan Animal Rescue. "At each clinic, The Big Fix has broken its own records — more spays and neuters completed, more volunteers engaged, and a measurable, growing impact on animal welfare across our community."
The clinic is made possible through a partnership with Greater Good Charities, whose veterinary teams perform high-volume spay and neuter procedures. Local volunteers, rescue organizations and cat trappers assist with outreach, transportation and post-surgery care.
All services are provided at no cost to pet owners.
“We’re thrilled to be coming back to Okanogan County and to continue this project’s positive impact on this community. Reaching more than 4,300 animals in under two years is what's possible when a committed local partner like TOAR and an engaged community work together. We're proud to help make BIG FIX 5.0 a lifeline for pets and families across the region," said Dr. Ruth Parkin, executive vice president for veterinary services at Greater Good Charities.
Organizers said the clinic is supported in part by an anonymous donor and Humane World for Animals, helping expand access to care for pets and families across the region.
Team Okanogan Animal Rescue, a nonprofit organization founded in 2022, provides a range of services in Okanogan County, including spay and neuter clinics, pet food distribution, trap-neuter-return programs for community cats, vaccine clinics and emergency veterinary funding.
