BREWSTER – At precisely 9:11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, a small group of citizens gathered at the memorial in Legion Park to observe the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center towers in New York City.
On that day more than two decades ago, terrorists hijacked four passenger jets and turned them into flying bombs in what would become the worst attack of its kind on American soil in the nation’s history.
The timeline of events that unfolded on that day included:
“I just thought the community should do something to observe that day,” Hurtado said earlier as he worked to bring citizens together for the brief ceremony.
