Chelan and Douglas counties launch homeless survey, seek public input

Posted

WENATCHEE—The Chelan-Douglas Homeless Housing Task Force has launched an online survey to gather public opinion on homelessness in Chelan and Douglas counties. The survey, available until October 4, will inform the task force's upcoming five-year strategic plan for reducing homelessness in the region.

Accessible through the Chelan County website (www.co.chelan.wa.us), the survey takes approximately 3 to 5 minutes to complete and is available in both English and Spanish. While anonymous, it collects basic demographic information such as age and community of residence.

The survey poses several key questions, including:

  • "How concerned are you about homelessness in your area?"
  • "What do you believe are the three top causes of homelessness in our area?"
  • "Where do you get your information about homelessness in our area from?"

These questions gauge public perception and understanding of homelessness issues in the two counties.

The task force will use the survey responses to develop its updated strategic plan, scheduled for release in spring 2025. This initiative aligns community perspectives with policy decisions regarding homelessness in Chelan and Douglas counties.

Residents can participate in the survey before the October 4 deadline to ensure their views are considered in the planning process.
