PATEROS – Long-time Pateros High School varsity baseball coach, Bob Van Lith lost one senior to graduation and has the core of his experienced veterans back for another season of Billygoats varsity baseball.
All of Van Lith’s returning players are multi-sport athletes including Dakota Poole, Jeremy Piechalski, Jess and Slade Ginter, Logan Robinson, Tag Easter, Scott Moore, Doug Viebrock, Zane Dodge, Alex Vargas, Max Ewing, Osvaldo Amaya, Andrew Gonzalez, and Kobe Thixton.
The Billygoats are a 1B team playing in a 2B league, Van Lith said about the reality of facing opponents from larger schools.
Pateros was near 50-50 in win-loss last year and ended its season in district competition with a first-round loss.
The Billygoats were scheduled to host Omak on Tuesday, March 14 in their season opener. Pateros will travel to Tonasket on Saturday, March 18 to play a doubleheader against the Tigers. On Tuesday, March 21, Pateros will host Soap Lake at 4:30 p.m.
