Dia de los Muertos, Halloween holidays are dead ahead

BREWSTER – The Oct. 16 regular meeting of the Chamber of Commerce put the final touches on nearly back-to-back celebrations coming up with Halloween on Oct. 31, and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) on Nov. 2.

The old standbys will again be the featured events downtown on Halloween, Thursday afternoon, Oct. 31.

  • The popular costume competition open to all ages in Legion Park will run from 4-5 p.m.
  • Trick or Treat at businesses on Main Street will pick up at 4:30 and continue through 6:30 p.m.

Library Presentation

On Friday, Nov. 1, the Brewster Public Library will host a presentation about Dia de los Muertos from 5-7 p.m. Activities, crafts, and snacks will be available following the event.

Dia de los Muertos

  • Begins at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2
  • Tamale contest. Vote for the best tamales in town.
  • Katrinas contest.
  • Face painting.
  • Music.
  • Artisan vendors.
  • Movie (Coco) in Legion Park.
