SPOKANE – The No. 3-seeded Waterville-Mansfield girls varsity basketball team proved that their 56-33 drubbing of 1B regional opponent Oakesdale on Feb. 24 at Wenatchee High School was more than a one-and-done affair.

The Lady Shockers delivered a similar, 55-33, knockout blow to Garfield-Palouse on Thursday, Feb. 29, in the Spokane Arena. Waterville-Mansfield took control early and led the No. 12 Vikings, 31-16, at halftime, and 45-20 at the end of the third quarter. Along the way the Lady Shockers forced Garland-Palouse to turn the ball over 34 times compared to 13 for Waterville-Mansfield.

With 20 points, Holly Finkbeiner led two other teammates who also scored in double figures, Jasmine Garcia, with 11, and Delaney Nelson, with 10.

The win advanced Waterville-Mansfield to the 1B semifinals against either Sunnyside Christian or Mount Vernon Christian, at 9 p.m., Friday, March 1. The game audio will be carried on KORELP.com.
