MANSFIELD – There was a hot time in The Town at the End of the Rails last weekend as the Town of Mansfield hosted its annual three-day Playdays celebration from Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 9.
Bracketed by theatrical productions on Friday and Sunday, Saturday’s main event began with the presentation of the Mansfield Museum and Historical Society’s annual Award of Merit to Ward and Nancy Glessner for their contributions to the community. Mayor Tom Snell presented the award after which the Glessner’s were guests of honor in the parade along Main Street.
Leading the procession was the red 1964 Ford F100 pickup that belonged to 2001 Mansfield graduate Marine Lance Corporal Caleb Powers who was killed in action while serving in Iraq in 2004.
