WENATCHEE — NCW Libraries will host a free virtual community conversation June 17 as part of a series examining themes related to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The program, “What Does Freedom Depend On,” is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, and will be presented in partnership with Oregon Humanities. The discussion will explore the origins of freedom in the United States, how concepts of freedom have changed over time and how those ideas are understood today.
Participants will discuss how freedoms shape daily life and the responsibilities that accompany them. The event will be held virtually through Zoom.
According to NCW Libraries, registration is available through the organization’s online calendar at NCW Libraries website. Registered participants will receive a Zoom link.
The discussion will be led by Jennifer Alkezweeny, program director for Oregon Humanities since 2020. Her work focuses on community engagement and creating opportunities for dialogue.
The June program is the first of three virtual conversations planned by NCW Libraries this summer. Additional sessions include “To What Do We Pledge?” on July 16 and “What Does It Mean To Be American” on Aug. 13.
NCW Libraries serves North Central Washington through 30 community libraries, a bookmobile and a mail-order library service.
