New Okanogan Quilt of Valor group seeks members

Posted

OKANOGAN – A new Quilts of Valor group has formed in Okanogan and the members are working toward two goals: attracting more members and finding veterans to be quilt recipients.

Group spokesperson Laurie Morgan said OK Quilts of Valor #95848 wants to serve Winthrop, Twisp, Methow, Pateros, Brewster, Bridgeport, Riverside, Omak, Coulee Dam area, and Okanogan.

“We want to invite any quilters who would like to join us to please come to our meeting at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, at Coulee Farms Restaurant at 96 Pine St. in Okanogan, or they can call me at 509-322-3063,” said Morgan. “They can also friend us on Facebook at OK Quilts of Valor #95848.”

Quilting groups have presented their honorariums to veterans at many events around the area, including Veterans Day observances, the Pateros Apple Pie Jamboree, and last year’s Okanogan County Fair.

Morgan said the mission of OK Quilts of Valor is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.

“To become a member of our group at qovf.org, put in our group number and become a member for $10,” Morgan said.
