OMAK — The Omak City Council approved a 10-year contract Monday with NCW Libraries to continue operating public library services in the city.
The council approved the agreement March 2. The NCW Libraries Board of Trustees previously approved the contract at its Feb. 19 meeting.
Under the agreement, the Omak Public Library will continue to operate under the management of NCW Libraries. Services include access to books and other materials, digital resources, public computers and community programs.
The agreement also allows work to move forward on the Reimagining Spaces Project, a renovation effort supported by more than $1.5 million in grant funding and capital funding from NCW Libraries. The project is intended to improve accessibility, modernize interior spaces and create flexible areas designed to serve changing community needs.
“Public libraries are essential community spaces,” said Barbara Walters, executive director of NCW Libraries. “We are grateful for the opportunity to continue serving residents of Omak and the surrounding areas with strong, reliable library services.”
NCW Libraries operates 30 community libraries across North Central Washington, along with a bookmobile and a mail-order library service.
