Pateros School Superintendent Greg Goodnight announces 2023 resignation

PATEROS – In a letter of resignation presented at the regular meeting of the Pateros School District Board of Directors meeting Monday, June 27, Superintendent Greg Goodnight notified the school board of his intention to retire on June 30, 2023, at the conclusion of the school year.
Goodnight told The Quad last Friday, July 1, that he had previously agreed to give the district a year’s notice prior to his decision. He was hired in 2018 to replace the outgoing Lois Davies. Previous to signing on at Pateros Goodnight served as principal of Selkirk Middle and High Schools in Ione, for three years. Before that he was the superintendent of the Kettle Falls School District for eight years.
In other business the board:
• Heard from parent Brogan Mitchell regarding the Keyhole Security presentation.
• Approved the 2022-23 contract for principal Susan James.
• Hired April Miller to coach varsity volleyball.
• Hired Caira Murrya as fall Cheer coach.
• Hired fifth grade teacher Rebeccah Hernandez.
• Accepted the resignation pf fifth grade teacher Sabrina Freeman.
• Accepted the resignation of parapro Heather Freels.
• Approved a revised policy on training and professional development for board members.
• Approved revised academic acceleration policy and procedure.
•  Approved revised infection control program policy and procedure.
• Approved new policy for accommodating students with seizure disorders and epilepsy.
• Approved new policy for parental administration of marijuana for medical purposes.
