BREWSTER – The Bears varsity boys basketball team dropped its home conference game, 59-46, to a determined Lake Roosevelt squad last Friday, Dec. 16.

“They came out with good intensity, as did we, but they played with more purpose and intent,” said head coach Michael Taylor. “They made us uncomfortable with the ball and controlled the tempo of the game.”

The Raiders held down Bears’ scoring through the first two quarters of play.

“We went into halftime down a couple, but only had 18 points which isn’t how we went to play.” Said Taylor. “We needed to get good shots most possessions against a good team and we didn’t.

The Bears’ typical come-from-behind kick that saves victories abandoned them down the stretch as the Raiders held on to the momentum.

“They caused us to have poor possessions regularly and it showed with our offensive output,” said Taylor. “Our defensive was okay, but we gave to some easy hoops to their guards in the second half that can’t happen”

Kelson Gebbers led the Bears with a double-double output of 22 points and 12 rebounds. Cort Gebbers scored 11 and pulled down six rebounds.

Brewster rebounded to defeat Reardan on the road, 74-55, on Tuesday, Dec. 20, and Napavine, 76-60, at home on Thursday, Dec. 22.
