EAST WENATCHEE — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the man found dead in a vehicle along U.S. Highway 97 earlier this week. Investigators identified the victim as Adnan Abou-Ammo, 68, of East Wenatchee.
Born in Beruit, Lebanon, Abou-Ammo was the Executive Director of Trancare, a non-emergency medical transportation service in Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan Counties. He was well-known in his community and was once profiled in a local newspaper for his faith.
Abou-Ammo was discovered unresponsive in a parked vehicle near milepost 228 on Nov. 12. Deputies and EMS personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators reported injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested Thursday in Bridgeport in connection with the case after deputies and multiple regional agencies served a search warrant at a residence in the 1400 block of Columbia Avenue. The juvenile was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree murder.
The Sheriff’s Office says the case remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact RiverCom Dispatch at 509-663-9911.
