Tidbits, Jan. 17

AMBER Alert Day

In one of her last acts as governor, Chris Gregoire declared Sunday, Jan. 13 as AMBER Alert Day.

The Washington State Patrol marked the occasion with a press release about how to be proactive in helping law enforcement find missing children.

You can start by going to www.amberalert.com and registering to receive AMBER alerts through e-mail or on your cell phone.

What do you do if you see the suspect vehicle in an abduction?

"Call 9-1-1 right away," said State AMBER Alert Manager Carri Gordon. "Please don't try to recover the child yourself. The best thing you can do is be a good witness. Let law enforcement professionals make contact with an abductor who is holding a child."
