Senior Center Thrift store hours, S.A.I.L classes, activities

BREWSTER – Hours at the Brewster-Pateros-Bridgeport Senior Center are 8 to 11:45 a.m. Monday through Thursday; and every other Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Donations will be accepted during store hours at the back door or just knock or come on in. They take just about everything except children’s clothing. The Center will also take “small pieces of furniture and sometimes larger items. S.A.I.L (Stay Active and Independent for Life) classes are on every Monday and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.

Story Time

Friday story time

BRIDGEPORT - A Friday Story Time as as been added as part of the Washington Reading Corps Program at the Bridgeport Public Library. Story Times are now Fridays 3:15-4:15 p.m., for Kindergarten through second grade; and most Saturdays, 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. for Kingergarten through fourth graders. These Story Times will be for the the rest of the school year and reading will be in English.  For more information call Molly Westlund at (509) 449-2009 .

Nov. 22-24
Landfills closed for holiday
The Okanogan County Central Landfill, EllisfordeTransfer Station, Bridgeport Transfer Station, and Twisp Transfer Station will be closed on: Thursday, Nov. 23, Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25 for the Thanksgiving weekend. They will all be open on regular schedules Tuesday, Nov. 28. For questions call Okanogan County Public Works and Solid Waste at (509) 422-2602.

Bingo Wednesday

BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport Eagles hosts bingo every Wednesday. Dinner is served at 5 p.m., bingo begins at 7 p.m., with dinner available until the bingo is over. Everyone is welcome.

AA meeting

BREWSTER - “Free At Last”!, an Alcoholics Anonymous group meets in Brewster. Meetings are Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m., at Brewster Grange Hall. All meetings are “open”.

BREWSER - On Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. they will he having our Community Thanksgiving Dinner. Free to the public while food supplies lasts. All food is donated by Legion and community members. Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. is the Member Appreciation Dinner with a roast beef dinner. Dinner provided to members that have paid their 2018 dues. Even if you haven’t paid your dues yet, you are welcome to come for a small fee. Dec. 20 at 6 p.m. is the Member Christmas Party. Potluck style so please bring side dish. If you would like to be apart of the gift exchange, bring a gift also. Dec. 25 at 1 p.m. is the Community Christmas Dinner. Free too the public while food supplies last. All food is donated by our Legion and community members. Friday night sirloin steak dinners from 5-7 p.m. every Friday. 8 oz. or 12 oz. Served with salad, baked potato, vegetable, and bread. Also Sunday morning breakfast from 9 a.m.-noon every Sunday. Nice sized menu. Poker night Tuesday and Thursdays. Starts at 7 p.m. Members and Bona-Fide quests are welcome. Snowmobile Advisory Board to meet
OKANOGAN - Snowmobile Advisory Board meeting will be held on   Mondays, Dec. 4, Jan. 8, 2018, Feb. 5, and March 5, at 6 p.m. and will meet in the   Public Works Department Conference room at the Public Services Building, 1234A 2nd Ave. S,,  in Okanogan.  For more information (509) 422-7300.

Brewster area monthly bus trips to Omak and Wenatchee

BREWSTER - OCTN takes Brewster area residents to Wenatchee for the day, every second Friday of the month. Next trip will be Dec. 8. The bus starts picking folks up at their homes at 7:30 a.m. Riders may request the destination(s); typically, it will be medical appointments, the mall, Walmart, a restaurant and so on. On the third Friday of each month, Dec, 15, riders will be taken to Omak for the day. Again, riders request their destination(s) and make a day of socializing, shopping and errands. Wenatchee: $12/boarding for General Public, $6 suggested donation/day for Seniors (60 plus). Omak: $5.50/General Public, $2.75 suggested donation Seniors (60 plus).Call (509) 826-4391 to reserve your seat.

Cancer Support Groups

CHELAN - Second Meeting Added: The Women’s Wellness Group, cancer support group, has two support groups, the second Tuesday of each month for lunch, with lunch provided by the Wenatchee Wellness Place, at the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Board Room at 11:45 a.m. and the fourth Wednesday of each month at LaBrisa at 5 p.m.  For more information, contact Anne at 682-8718.
