Morrison, West perform

at Riverside Center

Cashmere Community Concerts presents Cahalen Morrison & Eli West at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Riverside Center, 201 Riverside Drive, Cashmere. A cover charge of $3 per person at the door will help to cover expenses. Refreshments provided. The musicians will be paid by a onetime "hat pass," with a suggested donation of $8 to $11 per person. The doors open at 7 p.m.

Cascadia hosts Wenatchee River appreciation events

Cascadia Conservation District is hosting two Wenatchee River Appreciation events this spring, which include water quality education, weed removal and native plantings on the banks of the Wenatchee River or Chumstick Creek. The first event is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at the Cashmere Sportsmen's Club, 6550 Turkey Shoot Road, Cashmere. The second event is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2 at Cascade High School in Leavenworth. A shuttle to the planting site will be provided from the high school. Peshastin

Library offers bilingual story time

A bilingual story time, "Cuentos en Español," is offered at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, at the Peshastin Public Library, 8396 Main St., Peshastin. Bi-lingual story time is for anyone who loves a good story. It's also fun for those who are learning Spanish or English.

Leavenworth

Leavenworth Mountain Association hosts dinner, slideshow

Leavenworth Mountain Association's winter slideshow and dinner is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at the Leavenworth Ski Hill Lodge, on Titus Road, Leavenworth. Celebrate local climbing with a guidebook release party for local author Blake Herrington's new book "Cascades Rock." This book covers many local climbs and features art and photos by many Leavenworth locals. Pasta and salad dinner will be available by donation ($10). This is a family friendly event with a gear raffle. Dinner starts at 7 p.m., with the slideshow and raffle at 8 p.m. Bring cash for raffle tickets!

Leavenworth Mountain Association's mission is to strengthen the community through climbing.

Empty Bowls Art Grants available

Are you an elementary teacher, middle/high school art, music or drama teacher, or community member who works creatively with local students? Apply for an Empty Bowls Art Grant. WVC hosts open house March 22

The community is invited to a Wenatchee Valley College Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 22. The event begins in Wenatchi Hall.

The open house is an opportunity to explore career options; learn about options to help pay for college, such as financial aid, scholarships and workforce education funding; and receive help applying for admissions. Information about veterans' resources will also be available. Visitors can take campus tours and meet current WVC students, faculty and staff.

SweetHearts for Kids celebrates 15 years

Celebrate the 15th anniversary of Children's Home Society of Washington's SweetHearts for Kids benefit luncheon, sponsored by Numerica Credit Union and Premier One Properties, on April 13 at the Wenatchee Convention Center, 121 N. Wenatchee Ave. Westside High School Principal Kory Kalahar will serve as the keynote speaker.

GWATA announces nominees for Innovator Awards luncheon

GWATA, the NCW Technology Alliance will host the 16th Annual Innovator Awards from noon to 1:30 p.m. March 29th at the Wenatchee Convention Center. During the Innovator Awards Luncheon, GWATA will present several awards showcasing entrepreneurship, innovation, and education.

Nominees for all GWATA Innovator Awards are community driven. This year's nominees for Entrepreneur of the Year Award are: ApRecs; Castle & Bay; Digital Media Northwest; Express Employment Professionals; Firehouse Pet Shop; NCW Life; The Salcido Connection; Tumbleweed Bead Co.; and Voortex Productions.

Nominees for Tech Savvy Business are: Auvil Fruit Company; Community Foundation of NCW; Digital Media Northwest; Elements Salon and Spa; Fibro Corp; Link Transit; Numerica Credit Union; Numerica Performing Arts Center; Pacific Aerospace & Engineering; Plug-in NCW; Stemilt; and Superior Fruit Equipment.

GWATA received a record number of nominations for Innovative Use of Technology in the Classroom and for Future Technology Leader.

This year's luncheon theme is virtual reality and its emerging business applications. Keynote speaker is Ari Hollander, CTO and co-founder of DeepStream VR, a startup company that is disrupting the $38B healthcare industry using immersive technology.

WSU conference brings women in agriculture together

Empowering farming through communication is the focus of the 2016 Women in Agriculture Conference, to be held in locations across Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Montana and Alaska on Saturday, March 19. In Wenatchee, the conference will be held at Confluence Technology Center located at 285 Technology Way. The conference is designed for women who are farming, as well as new and aspiring farmers. Supporting spouses, students, interns or people who own an agriculture-related business are also welcome.

The registration fee of $30 includes workshop, light breakfast, lunch and conference materials.

YoungLives plans silent auction and fashion show

The fifth Annual YoungLives Silent Auction and Fashion Show is from 2 to 4 p.m. April 26 at the Pybus Events Center. Teen moms and their babies will be modeling. Speaker is Shauna Edwards, Spokane.
