Bears place 15th at WIAA State XC Championships

PASCO – Sophomore Ricky Garcia finished in 16th place in the men’s 1B/2B 5,000-meter cross country race at Sun Willows Golf Course last Saturday, Nov. 3, to help the Brewster Bears varsity cross country team place 15th in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) State XC Championships.

Sophomore teammate Oscar Guzman finished in 33rd spot among the Bears’ seven XC competitors who came in from 16th to 108th place among the field of 154 runners.

Adna senior Austen Apperson topped all runners with a time of 15:56.40, but Northwest Christian (Lacey) had three runners finish in the top 10 to take the team title. NWC scored 59 points, 76 less than second place Pope John Paul II, also from Lacey.
Liberty Bell finished first in the women’s 1B/2B 5K with 56 points.
