Mustangs fall to defending 1B state champion ACH

Posted

BRIDGEPORT – In what they knew would be one of their toughest football games of the season, the Bridgeport Mustangs fell to the visiting 1B defending state champion Almira-Coulee-Hartline Warriors, 76-6 last Friday, Oct. 28.

For a team that is still in a rebuilding mode, the Mustangs have made good account of themselves so far this season with back-to-back wins over Central Washington 1B rivals Wellpinit 69-28 on Sept. 14, followed by a shutout over Waterville-Mansfield 32-0 on Sept. 21. Bridgeport also corralled non-league wins over Inchelium, 1-0, and Cascade, 45-19.

With four games left in the regular season, the Mustangs still have three formidable opponents ahead in Odessa Harrington (Oct. 12), Pateros (Oct. 19), and Entiat (Oct. 26). All three along with ACH are in the top half of the win column this year.

The Mustangs host winless Yakama Tribal at 7 p.m.  on Friday, Oct. 5.
