Poole makes CW 1B All-League Volleyball Team

PATEROS – Senior outside hitter Sarah Poole was one of six players selected to the 2017 Central Washington 1B All-League Volleyball Team by team coaches and school athletic directors.
Pateros girls’ varsity volleyball coach Gene Dowers had high praise for Poole’s versality and ability.
“We needed Sarah to make some big transitions this year and she took it on beautifully,” said Dowers. “From playing half-rotation right front to playing full-rotation left front and left back was a big move.”
Poole finished the season third in kills, second in digs, “and, no question, the best server in the state,” said Dowers. “She served 398 times, put 90% in, and scored 104 aces.”
Dowers said that while Poole has a good, solid serve, “what was most important was what she did with it.  She is a superb tactician and serving strategist.”
Poole was the Nannies Most Valuable Player based on points scored and her teammates voted her Most Valuable Teammate as well as Most Inspirational Player.
“She is humble, selfless, a joy to coach, and loves the game,” said Dowers. “She's ‘the little engine that could’ who just kept working and getting better until she was the best.”
The CW 1B League and District 6 champion Entiat Tigers made up half the All-League roster with three players including Most Valuable Player, Ivette Mora.
Riverside Christian and Wilson Creek rounded out the All-League team with a player each. Wilson Creek coach Jesse True was named Coach of the Year, an honor that was conferred on Pateros coach Gene Dowers in 2016.
Riverside Christian shared the Sportsmanship award with Easton.
