Undefeated Lady Bears lead volleyball CWB-2B

BREWSTER – The Lady Bears varsity volleyball team added Tonasket and Waterville-Mansfield to its latest list of wins with a 3-0 shutout over the Lady Tigers on the road last Thursday, Sept. 27, and a 3-1 over the Kernels on Tuesday, Sept. 25, with scores of 20-25, 25-19, 25-16, and 25-12.

Brewster reconfigured its strategy after losing the first game by five points.

“We changed things up a bit and ran a 5-1 in our first set,” said coach Marcy Boesel. “We were out of sync and Waterville did a great job of putting the ball where we weren't.”

The Lady Bears went back to their 6-2 formation in the second set.

“We found some rhythm, and the girls fought hard to win the match,” said Boesel. “Waterville is a very scrappy team and offensively they are unpredictable. This was a great match to show us things we need to work on to get better.”

Brewster was scheduled to host Soap Lake last Tuesday and will travel to Liberty Bell for a game on Thursday, Oct. 4. The Lady Bears will host Bridgeport at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
