Dyer Hill snow runoff closes SR 173 between Bridgeport and Brewster

BRIDGEPORT - Snow runoff from the north slope of Dyer Hill between Bridgeport and Brewster proved to be too much for drainage routes to handle last Thursday, March 28 and closed a portion of the highway between Cedar Avenue and Gun Club Road.  A detour around a short stretch of 173 between mileposts 6.2 and 6.4, routes traffic onto Gun Club Road and Cedar Avenue, so drivers can get around the problem area. Washington State Department of Transportation highway personnel are working to clear mud and water from the roadway and monitor a culvert that serves as the main drainage channel along the south side of SR 173 where the runoff is accumulating.
