Three Rivers Hospital hosts art by area fourth graders

Posted

BREWSTER – Three Rivers Hospital (TRH) will display paintings created by fourth grade students from Brewster, Pateros, Bridgeport and Liberty Bell elementary schools thanks to a collaboration between TRH and Methow Arts.

Paintings by fourth grade students from Bridgeport and Brewster Elementary Schools went display at the TRH early this month. The student art is framed and hung in the hospital, with a public Open House scheduled from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 16. The event will include live music and a selection of snacks and sparkling cider for kids and adults.

“Three Rivers Hospital staff have committed to funding a collaboration in which students from Liberty Bell, Pateros, Brewster, and Bridgeport Schools will create art through Methow Arts’ artist-in-residence program, and then hang their work as an exhibit for one year,” said Chris Majors, TRH Business Development Coordinator. “Ten “Veggie People” portraits were inspired by the artwork of 16th century Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo and created by Bridgeport fourth grade students with teaching artist Margaret Kingston.”

Majors said the second exhibit will feature 10 Salmon paintings, created by Brewster fourth grade students with teaching artist Annie Venable as part of their “Power of River” unit.

“Each year student artwork from the four schools’ education programs will be curated, rotated and maintained by Methow Arts,” said Majors. “The public is invited to visit Three Rivers Hospital to view the artwork.”
