Bridgeport Dollars for Scholars announces scholarship recipients

BRIDGEPORT -- Bridgeport Dollars for Scholars, a local affiliate of Scholarship America, recently announced Bridgeport High School (BHS) recipients of its annual Continuing Undergraduate Scholarships.
Eleven former BHS graduates, from the classes of 2010 through 2016, have been awarded a total of $10,600 for the coming autumn academic year. These students applied for either second, third or fourth-year scholarships that are available each year. The awards are strictly merit-based, dependent on the students’ overall achievements in pursuing their educational goals.
The recipients include:
2010 - Greg Brown, Brigham Young University – Idaho
2014 - Maria Landin, Washington State University
2014 - Courtney Austin, Spokane Falls Community College
2014 - Ana Trejo, Washington State University
2015 - Anabel Valdovinos, Eastern Washington University
2015 - Marcantonio Martinez, University of Washington
2015 - William Dodson, University of Washington
2015 - Anita Velazquez, University of Washington
2016 - Jordan Peart, Wenatchee Valley College
2016 - April Lopez, Gonzaga University
2016 - Martin Trejo, Washington State University
Each recipient from the class of 2016 received $1200, class of 2015 each $1000, class of 2014 and 2010 each $750.
Bridgeport Dollars for Scholars also awarded scholarships to four 2017 BHS graduating seniors this past June.

Funded entirely through contributions from alumni, local citizens, and businesses, Bridgeport Dollars for Scholars has presented more than 325 individual scholarships, amounting to more than $185,000, to deserving BHS graduates over the past 20 years.
