Antique quilts to be featured at quilt show

Posted
Selections from the antique quilt collection of Sonia Taylor, Brewster, will be featured at the annual Apple Pie Jamboree quilt show, Saturday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pateros Methodist Church.

Sonia's grandmother Laura Mae Riggan got Sonia interested in quilting as a child; she's an enthusiastic quilter as well as enthusiastic collector. She's taught her children and nieces and nephews to quilt, and their works have been displayed in previous APJ quilt shows.

Tickets for the 2008 show are $2 and can be purchased at the door. The sponsors, the Columbia River Quilt Guild, also are sponsoring a raffle for a quilt made by guild participants. The proceeds always are donated to a worthwhile project in Brewster, Bridgeport or Pateros; this year the money will go to the St. James Episcopal Food Bank. Tickets for the raffle quilt are $1 each.

The quilt guild meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Bridgeport Elementary School library. All interested quilters are invited to attend.
