PATEROS

Ballots out now, returned by March 10

Pateros School District patrons should be receiving ballots for a proposed "health and safety" construction bond by the end of this week. Ballots must be returned to the Okanogan County Auditor's Office by Election Day, Tuesday, March 10.

Voters will decide the fate of the $1.73 million construction bond proposal; if it's approved, property owners would pay approximately 80 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value. If the bond is approved, the bulk of the money would be used to pay for a new heating/cooling system throughout the building. The bond proposal also includes money for new lights, a new fire alarm-bell-clock system, upgrades to the district's bus garage, new equipment for the kitchen and remodeling a bathroom in the grade school. Because it's a revenue measure, the bond must be approved by at least 60 percent of the voters to pass.

Drama Club raising money for spring production

Pateros High School Drama Club members will be taking orders for Krispy Kreme doughnuts through March 6; the club is raising money for the spring production, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Drama club members are taking orders now, with pickup March 6. The drama club will have "golden tickets" in random boxes of doughnuts; people who find the golden tickets get in to any performance of the spring play free of charge.

People who want to place an order or want more information can contact Joy McCulley or Nicole Province at Pateros School.
