Mansfield athletes sign up for Shockers spring sports

MANSFIELD – Ranging from the eighth grade through senior, nine Mansfield athletes have signed on to play spring sports for the combined Waterville-Mansfield Shockers varsity teams this year.

Senior Ariana Salcedo and sophomore Kiara Rodriguez are playing Shockers’ softball under coach Ruben Salcido.

The Shockers lost their season opening doubleheader at Tonasket, 17-1, and 10-4. They were scheduled to play Manson on the road on Tuesday, March 26, and will host Brewster for a D/H at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Saturday, March 30.

Freshman Braden Murison and eighth grader Trevor Moore have joined the varsity baseball team being coached by Owen Drew.

The Shockers were shut out in their season opening doubleheader last Saturday, March 23, at Tonasket, 17-0, and 18-0. They were scheduled to play at Manson on Tuesday, March 26, and will meet Brewster for a D/H on Saturday, March 30.

Three Mansfield juniors and two sophomores are on the Shockers’ track and field team coached by Robert Parcells. They are juniors Ian Minatani, Abbi Smith, and Daniel Youngblood, and sophomores Xavier Tedder and Emily Thomsen.

The Shockers were scheduled to compete at the Eastmont JV Invitational on Tuesday, March 26. Their next appearance will be at the Brewster Co-Ed Relays at Bridgeport on Tuesday, April 9.
