Pateros tennis team claims league and district championships

PATEROS – The Nannies varsity tennis team made a strong showing at the Central Washington B Girls Tennis Tournament played over two Wednesdays, May 11 and 18, at the North Cascades Athletic Club in Omak.

Head coach Sean Hiltz said his team took home both the CWB 2B team championship and underscored that win with the 1B/2B district title as well. Pateros results include:

• Second place Girls Singles – junior Caroline Zoretic.

• Second place Girls Doubles – seniors Angie Gonzalez and Melanie Gonzalez.

• Third place Girls Doubles – senior Naili Hernandez and junior Alyssa Lopez.

All three teams advanced to the State B Tennis Tournament at the Yakima Tennis Club in Yakima last Saturday and Sunday. May 27-28.

The Pateros team also received the Sportsmanship award.
