Posted

BREWSTER – The Bears varsity basketball team remains undefeated, 6-0, in Central Washington 2B League competition heading into the holiday break with wins over Manson, 62-37, and Soap Lake, 79-44.
Against the 2-1 Trojans on Manson’s home court last Thursday, Dec. 15, Brewster took a five-point 14-9 lead into the second quarter but could not shake the Trojans who remained within five points at the half.
The Bears pulled away in the second half behind the double digit scoring of Corey Jarrell, Joe Taylor and Kade Kelpman. Jarrell let the way with 15 points including several late-game three-pointers.
At home Dec. 12 against the Soap Lake Eagles, who have not been having a stellar season so far this year, Brewster jumped out to a 10-point first-quarter lead, extended that to nearly 20 points at halftime and cruised to a 79-44 final. Taylor led all scorers with 24 points.
The Bears will face Toutle Lake and Hoquiam at the 28-team Wilbur-Ellis SunDome Shootout in Yakima, Thursday and Friday, Dec. 28-29. The Bears will take on Toutle Lake at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and Hoquiam at noon on Sunday.
The Bears will be back in action at Tonasket on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018.
