Pateros City Council meeting

Posted
• The Pateros City Council moved 4-0, (Labree and Brady absent) to authorize Pateros Mayor Gail Howe to sign a grant of easement agreement for a pedestrian sidewalk/walkway that connects the Pateros pedestrian mall and the pedestrian walkway to the memorial Park.

The easement is for a property located between Lakeshore Drive and the Pateros Pedestrian Mall and is intended for a walkway.

• Board members entertained a series of speakers representing the public and the Police Advisory Board who were interested in the service contract for the Okanogan County Sheriff's Department and its service to the Pateros area.

• Pateros Volunteer Firefighter's Assistant Captain Keith Zweigle asked if there was a cost difference between the service of the sheriff's department and that of neighboring Brewster Police Department, who had also expressed an interest in serving the area.

Board member Christine Perry explained the cost for each service was the same and that the sheriff's department services were superior.

Perry explained that the city could re-negotiate its law enforcement contract at any time, if the need arose. Once the discussion was complete, council members chose to leave the contract as is, and revisit it later if necessary.
