Bears beat St. George’s in race to 2B soccer lead

Posted

BREWSTER – The third-place Brewster Bears girls varsity soccer team (1-1) is contending for the top spot in the Central Washington 2B with three tough rivals in Tonasket, Lake Roosevelt, and Manson.

Brewster’s last two non-district wins over visiting St. George’s, 2-1 on Sept. 23, and Pateros, 6-1, on Sept. 26, gave the Bears some momentum on the road against the 2-2 Trojans, on Sept. 28.

St. George’s gave Brewster a hole to dig out of early when the Dragons scored the go-ahead goal inside the first minute of play to take a 1-0 lead. Yaretzy Shagun tied the game with Brewster’s first score and Pepper Boesel found the net with what would be the winning goal just before the end of the first half.
