WENATCHEE-The Brewster Bears and the Bridgeport Fillies traveled to Wenatchee on Oct. 31 for the 1B/2B District Championship Cross Country Meet, with the Brewster boys taking second overall and Bridgeport taking fourth out of 12 teams.
The Brewster boys qualified as a team for the state meet, and Bridgeport's Oren Cox will represent the Fillies in Pasco.
Brewster's Edgar Guzman finished in 10th place in the three mile varsity race with a time of 17 minutes and 40 seconds. His teammate Brady Busching followed, placing 12th with a time of 17:55.
Ramiro Rincon placed 19th for the Bears, with a time of 18:45.
Brewster's Bryan Lopez placed 27th at 19:19, followed by Bryan Cuin-Tinoco in 30th with 19:22.
Carlos Talavera finished right behind Lopez, with a time of 19:24, landing in 31st for the Bears.
Jesus Castro found 44th place for the Bears, finishing the race with a time of 19:56.
For Bridgeport, Oren Cox finished in second place behind a runner from Liberty Bell. Cox finished the race with a time of 16:18, securing an individual spot in the state meet for Bridgeport. Edgar Alcantara finished in 17th place for the Fillies with a time of 18:12, followed by Tano Martinez in 23rd with a time of 19:00.
Martin Trejo found 32nd place with a time of 19:29, followed by Michael Brown in 53rd and Marcos Salazar in 64th.
Tony Ruiz was Bridgeport's seventh varsity runner, finishing in 71st with a time of 21:17.
On the girls' side, Bridgeport's Rubi Galvan finished in 21st for the Fillies with a time of 26:22.
The Brewster boys and Oren Cox will travel to the state meet at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco on Nov. 7, with the boys' race starting at 11:30 a.m.
